Running Club
By Corina Lewin - Club Leader
Club Experience
All are welcome to join this club! Whether you are a lean running machine, or a couch potato, you are welcome! This club will be a great place to start your running journey, discuss your goals with others, participate in weekly challenges and be a part of an active community! Once a month, we will host a Galileo Community Run, at both PST and GMT times. Ready,… Set,… GO!
Schedule
* Europe / Asia Meetup: Tuesdays at 10 am GMT
* America Meetup: Tuesdays at 11 am PST
Learning Goals
Together we will help you to design a fitness program tailored to your wants and needs. Whether you want to do it competitively, or just want to get into the habit of running, we will help you to find the best possible way to reach that goal! We will use a running app to record our runs, along with shareable maps and photos!
About the Club Teacher
Corina used to dislike running. She thought you need a specific body type or a super power to be able to run even 500m. Once she challenged herself to do a 10km charity run, she discovered that she can run.She also realized that running can be enjoyable as well. Her next personal challenge is to run a half-marathon. She is also a certified Yoga teacher. Therefore she can provide you with tips and tricks on stretching properly before going for that run.
Other Resources
The club uses a multitude of resources, all with the child/youth runner in mind. Links, documents and other materials will be shared in the club’s message board.
You will probably need access to a mobile phone with GPS to track your progress in real time. The club will have its own (private) Strava Running club. This is to create a sense of community where students can share maps, photos, or simply encourage each other!
Some running/sports shoes, ideally. Yes, barefoot also works, but look after your ankles!
Time Required
Apart from the weekly hour you will spend in the Running Club discussing your progress and personal goals, it’s really up to you! If you put in the time and the patience, you will gradually improve and rack up the miles! Friendly competition is of course optional.
