In this Bootcamp, students will have the opportunity to create their augmented reality (AR) enabled face filters using Spark AR Studio, the official tool for creating and publishing Facebook and Instagram filters.
Students will be introduced to this relatively new software and learn the basics of creating AR experiences. Future Spark AR Bootcamp is the simplest type of AR experience to make; it will explore more advanced topics such as particle systems, interactive experiences, AR-enabled art, patches, and more.
At the end of the nanocourse, students should be familiar with a topic and use new software.
- Have a basic understanding of Spark AR Studio
- Understand the use of face tracking and meshes
- Understand how to use face reference assets to create facepaint filters
- Understand how to create and import assets for use in Spark AR Studio
About the Facilitator:
Kristen Montesano is the Director of Tech Education for Galileo. She has been teaching STEAM skills for more than three years in various self-directed learning environments, summer camps, and maker spaces. She enjoys creating tech projects, including games, 3D prints and animations, electronics projects, and digital experiences, and continuously explores emerging technologies. Kristen enjoys travel and sports, and activities in nature, including hiking, rock climbing, and snowboarding. Kristen has a B.S. in Child Learning and Development. She believes that the most important feature of any course is that the students leave feeling accomplished and inspired to explore the topic independently.
