In August, Galileo’s Mars Book Club read Mindful Me, Mindfulness and Meditation for Kids written by the author, mindfulness expert, and professional speaker, Whitney Stewart. The students met Whitney earlier this month where they talked about managing emotions, about mindfulness and allowing emotions to flow and being aware of these feelings, and applying mindfulness techniques. Whitney Stewart has trekked in the Himalaya with Sir Edmund Hillary and visited remote Buddhist monasteries in Nepal, Tibet, Myanmar, and Japan. She’s interviewed Nobel laureates, sat in meditation retreats, and even been a puppeteer and salad chef in France. She is the author of both fiction and nonfiction books for children.
