Our team

Bianca Balea

Founder, Bianca Balea, MakerKID owner and founder, has a PhD in Sociology and for over ten years she has been concerned about how the new media technologies influence children's lives, what are the online opportunities and barriers and how the new technologies can and should be used in education. She is also a founding member of the Digital Lives Romania NGO. In the MakerKID team, she is responsible for designing educational programs and holds storytelling, media education and civic education workshops. She is passionate about everything related to children's education, she collaborates with several NGOs, and she loves children's books.

Cristi Balea

Co-founder, Cristi Balea, is a graduate of the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications, Cluj-Napoca and a passionate mentor with everything related to technology and football 🙂 Within the MakerKID team, Cristi is responsible for engineering and 3D printing workshops. He likes to challenge kids to design and make their own ideas, to give them time and space to experiment and find solutions.

Ale Nita-Palcau

Art Facilitator, Ale Nita-Palcau is a graduate of the Faculty of Arts, Cluj-Napoca and is the artist in the makerspace. She has been part of the MakerKID team for almost two years, during which she assisted kids in hundreds of projects. She loves nature, art, animals and people. Because she is very crafty and creative, when she is in the makerspace she is always crafting something. Ale is also responsible for the way the makerspace walls look like. :)
