Our team

Sarah M. Stai

Founder/Coordinator, This dojo has grown out of my passion for one-room schoolhouses and my love of homeschooling. It’s a small start to a big dream that has been a long time in the making! My husband and I have been homeschooling our three sons since 2012, when our oldest was approaching kindergarten. I love the time I get to spend with my boys (who will be ages 13, 10, and 6 in fall 2021) and sharing in their educational journey. Besides covering the basic subjects in our homeschool, we spend lots of time outside and emphasize connections to nature and history, science, foreign language, music, and art. Besides being a homeschool parent, I have worked with ages preschool through high school in informal settings such as museum camps and classes and have taught college-level courses at multiple universities. I have also started and coordinated three different homeschool co-ops. I have BS and PhD degrees in Ecology and work part-time as a freelance environmental consultant, currently focusing on climate action. To learn more about me, visit www.threeoaksfarmstead.com (about what we’re doing on our five acres to work toward small fruit and flower production, a menagerie of animals, and providing opportunities for historical immersion) and/or www.ecosmithconsulting.com (about my training and professional experience).
